Getting a vision is more than just having something like a pretty painting on a wall, as nice as they are. Men can dream of better days and it is therapeutic. But that is not how God’s gifts of the Spirit work. There is more to it than that!
When God spoke to Adam in “the cool of the day”, a better translation might be God spoke in the proceeding wind of His Spirit. He is a force, a moving force with a message, a Voice, and a Personality with more dreams and visions than He could release to us at one time or we would explode!
Amazingly, we are His crowing creation. We are made in His Image. That means there is no other creation as much like Him as we are. That makes us extra special to Him. He wants more from us than He does the plants and the animals.
We have the ability to bless Him and bring Him joy and at the same time, we also have the capacity to bring Him great heartache. It’s not that God is at a loss without us, but His desire for us is quality interaction with Him. Sometimes I think we sell ourselves so short!
Not only did He give us a mind and sensory capabilities, but He also shared His emotions with us. We can praise God, but we can’t really flatter Him because He knows fully who He is. But He does get pleasure when we notice and co-labor with Him. He did not just create the world and leave it. His Spirit has invested and He fully expects to get His return.
This can amazingly bypass the brain, because the heart is something that goes beyond mental intellect. But His Word to us is to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. That encompasses all of us. Not only are we to do it, but we are to be taught to do it and then we are to teach others.
There are skills for relationships that we must learn. One of my earliest memories is my mother teaching me the value of saying “please” and “thank you.” One day she asked me when I came home from elementary school, “Did you say ‘thank you’ to the carpool driver?” I winced because she had told me to and I had forgotten. It was important! Those words could open doors and keep them open. It is more about spirit than legalism. It must be learned.
Jesus taught the parable of the virgins with their lamps trimmed in oil. The oil is what kept the wick burning. Without the oil, the lamps gave no warmth or light. When the neglectful ones were told to go purchase their own oil, the implication was a demand on relationship. There was an imposition that had been put on all of them, and it was what took them to the next level or not.
Remember God is a Wind or a Breath. Jesus breathed the Holy Spirit on His disciples. That was up close and personal and there was a message in it. There was a force and a vision that He expected them to participate in. We are on assignment!
God never stays still. He plans and plans and plans with joy in His Heart. His frustration is our lack of cooperation. He is not frustrated when we are trying – His Heart is warm to our efforts. But His sadness is when we don’t even try, when we go our own way apart from His and the fellowship and activation opportunity is broken.
We miss the good things He plans. A plan alone is lonely with no fellowship. He has designed plans for us that depend on His activation by His Spirit so they will work. A car by itself can be very interesting with all its intricate parts. But until the gas is in and the key is turned, there is no activation. There is joy in walking, and walking should be greatly appreciated, but as we know there are limitations as to how far we can go. But we may never see a mountain or hear the ocean waves if we can’t find a working vehicle to get there. You know what I mean!
If God did not plan to get over the pain we gave Him through the broken fellowship at the Fall of man in the Garden, He never would have provided Jesus paying the price on the Cross for our sins. But He is the sacrificial Lamb, slain (by intent) from the foundation of the world. If it is not appreciated, in many ways it is neutralized. It becomes a joyless relationship and the relationship has the potential of dying out. And what do you do with trash? You throw it in the place to be burned!
We need to understand these most basic dynamics. There are so many people walking around aimless, experiencing life without understanding what it is about. Some can live pretty good lives because they have chosen to be teachable. But if they miss the main lesson, that they are here because God wanted them here, and plans for them, then they can feel quite empty and unfulfilled.
But when they come to understand the activation of cooperating and abiding with the Life of God, their whole lives can turn around to one of satisfaction and purpose. Once the concept is understood, then it must be employed.
In the Garden, God was teaching us a very important component about fellowship, trust, obedience and reward. He did this so that we could enjoy fellowship beyond the stage of a robot. He allowed us to fail with a plan in place for Life. We just have to choose it, which is the beginning of this interactive relationship. We are in the end times of the restoration of all things.
“What?” someone says, “I thought everything was going to blow up!”
No, what can be shaken will blow up. But if it is planted and grounded fully on the Rock, it will stay. The end times will be the most spectacular of proof! But the restoration (obviously if you think about it), goes beyond the natural and the physical.
Without the Spiritual, it is merely carnal, subject to change or destruction as we know it. But when all things are restored, the dynamics of exponential life in a functioning order are limitless. We can boast about that in our flesh and we know we are only trying to say encouraging words. But in the Spirit, there is a very true reality.
As we wise up, the defeated spirit of anti-Christ takes notice and plays us like a game. But in hearing the Voice of our Maker, we get the divine strategy we need to overcome that in His Plan. But besides mental well being, more is at stake. As it states in Romans 8, all creation is involved in this process.
20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope;
21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28 NKJV)
Now when God has pleasure, sometimes we will share in those emotions. But let me share what Hosea 2 says about it, about how God wants and plans to respond in a cosmic way:
18 In that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, with the birds of the air, and with the creeping things of the ground. Bow and sword of battle I will shatter from the earth, to make them lie down safely.
19 “I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me In righteousness and justice, In lovingkindness and mercy;
20 I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, and you shall know the Lord.
21 “It shall come to pass in that day that I will answer,” says the Lord; “I will answer the heavens, and they shall answer the earth.
22 The earth shall answer With grain, With new wine, And with oil; They shall answer Jezreel [which means: God will sow].
23 Then I will sow her for Myself in the earth, and I will have mercy on her who had not obtained mercy;
Then I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they shall say, ‘You are my God!'”
Can you see what we would call a “supernatural response”? Can you see the dynamics of verse 21 there? When God is activated in our relationships, our heavens are activated in our favor and they respond to the earth which responds with the blessings that we need to enjoy and live a full life. The devastation of war is no more.
Don’t be cheated out of this in your own life! Study it!
The awesome thing is that God reserves things in Heaven for us for the full manifestation at the proper time:
First Peter 1:
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
We can be glad we live in these end times. So many aspects of life are involved that it takes every one of us doing our part! Because “in part” it can only be “partly done.”
When we learn how to walk with and please God, then it is all activated and life as it should be can be fully lived.
